Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using InterpAssist, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use our platform. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time, and continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of any changes.

2. Description of Service

InterpAssist is a platform that connects clients with professional interpreters for video, phone, and in-person interpretation services. We act as a marketplace facilitating the connection between clients and interpreters but are not a party to the interpretation services themselves.

3. User Accounts

You must create an account to use our services. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Keep your account credentials secure
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
  • Not share your account with others or create multiple accounts

4. Booking and Payments

When you book an interpretation session, you agree to pay the fees displayed at the time of booking. Payments are processed through our third-party payment provider. Key terms include:

  • A payment hold is placed at the time of booking and captured after session completion
  • Cancellations made 48 or more hours before the session are fully refundable
  • Late cancellations (less than 48 hours) may incur a cancellation fee
  • Interpreters who cancel receive no payment and the client is fully refunded

5. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
  • Harass, abuse, or discriminate against interpreters or other users
  • Attempt to circumvent the platform to arrange services directly with interpreters
  • Interfere with the operation of the platform or its security features
  • Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or other harmful content

6. Interpreter Obligations

Interpreters on the platform are independent contractors, not employees of InterpAssist. Interpreters are responsible for maintaining their professional qualifications, providing accurate and impartial interpretation, and adhering to professional codes of ethics including confidentiality of all session content.

7. Limitation of Liability

InterpAssist is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, InterpAssist shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to errors in interpretation, missed sessions, or technical failures.

8. Dispute Resolution

If a dispute arises regarding session time or quality, our platform provides a built-in dispute resolution process. Discrepancies of 15 minutes or less are auto-resolved. Larger discrepancies are escalated to our support team for review. You agree to use this process before pursuing any external legal remedies.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violations of these terms or for any other reason at our discretion. You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. Upon termination, your right to use the platform ceases immediately.
